Is it possible to treat type 2 narcolepsy (without cataplexy) with medication?

Post by Arashikasa

Hey, I'm just checking to see if anyone in here is familiar with what is and isn't allowed for diagnosis/meds. It has come to my attention that a solider is exhibiting symptoms similar to Type 2 Narcolepsy (sleep disturbances resulting in poor quality sleep, but he does not fall asleep randomly during the day or experience paralysis of any kind). If this diagnosis is confirmed, will he be medically discharged? Would medications such as modafinil (Provigil) and armodafinil (Nuvigil) be prohibited? He's already taking stimulants for ADHD. Just need to figure out which way to go. MOS: Infantry-related for reference.

How do they know specifically they have Type 2 Narcolepsy? They need to be referred to the sleep clinic for evaluation.

Those medications are not prohibited if the SM is legally prescribed them for diagnoses.
